It is being reported that the Green Bay Packers portion of the Brett Favre saga is over as it is being reported Brett Favre has been traded to the New York Jets. After Brett Favre reported to the Packers training camp it became apparant how big of distraction Farve would be to the rest of the team, and a deal has apparantly quickly been worked out. Packers coach Mike McCarthy met with Favre for four hours on Monday night and then two on Tuesday morning and determined that he was not right in the correct mindset to compete with Aaron Rodgers for the QB job. The "Right Mindset" is thought to be Favre's anger over how management has handled the situation being a distraction to Farve and potentialy the rest of the team.
The New York Jets are thought to have traded a single draft pick for the player that holds almost all NFL QB records. The pick likely increases in value for the Packers depending on how the New York Jets due. The Jets should get a hungry and ready to compete player in Farve, as he will likely play with a chip on his shoulder trying to prove the Packers wrong. This will be Brett Favres third NFL team as he started his career with the Atlanta Falcons and came to the Packers for a first round draft choice.
