
The New York Jets defeated the New York Giants in Brett Favre's second start in NY by a score of 10 to 7. Favre was still sharp in his second start with the Jets completing 9 of 12 passes for 96 yards in limited duty. He also threw one touchdown pass however it was negated by an illegal motion penalty by TE Bubba Franks. Favre has said that he has lobbied head coach Eric Mangini to play at least one series in the Jets final preseason game against the Eagles, however has not been assured playing time. Brett Favre now has a passer rating in two preseason starts with the Jets of 118.5, his career high passer rating came in 1995 when he finished at 99.5.
The Jets were unable to get much of a ground game going in the game, Jesse Chatman led the Jets rushing stats with 11 carries for 26 yards. Rookie tight end Dustin Keller out of Purdue continued his strong showing in the preseason leading the Jets in Receiving with 3 catches for 43 yards.
