Mark Sanchez was selected with the number 5 pick of the NFL Draft by the NY Jets after the Jets traded up from the 17 spot. Mark Sanchez spent his college years in the intense spotlight of being a starting QB for the elite USC Trojans. Sanchez will definitely not be leaving the spotlight now as he will be a central focus of attention for the intense NY sports and general media. If there is a QB to take this sort of attention Sanchez might be the guy to do it. It is possible that the Jets learned the importance of having a QB that can deal with the media after their one year experiment with the reclusive Brett Favre at QB in 2008.

Mark Sanchez's strengths as a quarterback are his strong arm, accuracy, and leadership skills. Sanchez is a smart player and a person which as mentioned earlier should help him hold up in the NY media. One of the main selling points for the Jets is likely Sanchez's extensive experience in the West Coast offense which should give him an opportunity to start for the Jets as soon as the 2009 year.

The Jets traded with the Cleveland Browns to move up to get Sanchez and to do so they traded their first-round pick, No. 17 overall in 2009, their second-round pick this year, and defensive end Kenyon Coleman, safety Abram Elam and quarterback Brett Ratliff.

Mark Sanchez College - Short Bio: Mark Sanchez left USC after his junior year, he started 16 games for USC completing 64.27% passes. Sanchez through 313 passes for 3,998 yards with 41 touchdowns in 27 games. Sanchez totaled at least 200 passing yards nine times in 2008 showing great consistancy.

Look for continuing coverage of Mark Sanchez as he starts his career with the NY Jets.
