As if Jets fan didn’t have enough to be excited about for next year, yesterday we got one more piece of amazing news. Last night it was announced that the Jets had struck a deal with the Chargers for their Pro Bowl Cornerback, Antonio Cromartie. Cromartie just finished his 4th year in the league, his 3rd as a starter. In his 2nd season with the Chargers, Cromartie recorded 10 interceptions and was elected to his first and only Pro Bowl.
Cromartie’s break out season with the Chargers just happened to be the rookie season of (in this writer’s opinion) the league’s best Cornerback, one Darrelle “Revis Island” Revis. That season, watching Cromartie shut down receiver after receiver while simultaneously making some of the most athletic interceptions I had ever seen, I remember drooling over the thought of a Jets Defensive Backfield featuring Revis and Cromartie across from each other.
So in honor of making this Jets fan’s dream come true, I would like to invite GM Mike Tannenbaum to sit back, kick his feet up, and enjoy a nice cold one to celebrate a job well done. However, 2010 is still young, and that brief pause is the only one I’ll allow him for now. After all, he still needs to find a way to strike a trade with the Denver Broncos for Brandon Marshall!
